Transparent by design

Keep the text connected to its source.

Transcriptium is designed as a clear three-step workflow for public, permissioned video—not as a way around platform or publisher controls.

1. Start with permission

Paste a public YouTube URL only when you own the video or have permission to work with its transcript. Private, paid, age-restricted, and access-controlled sources are outside the intended use.

2. Generate and review

The link tool uses Supadata to retrieve public captions or automatically transcribe the audio with AI when captions are missing. The upload tool transcribes authorized audio through Cloudflare Workers AI. Both return readable text and timestamps when available. Automated text can contain errors, so names, numbers, quotations, and consequential claims should always be checked against the video.

3. Export with context

The TXT and VTT output can support notes, accessibility work, research, captions, and repurposing of your own material. A transcript does not transfer copyright or grant new usage rights.

Current status: free beta. YouTube links support existing captions and automatic AI transcription without captions. AI processing can take several minutes and depends on the monthly credit allowance. Audio uploads support MP3, M4A, WAV, FLAC, OGG, and WebM up to 15 MiB.

What the product will not be

  • A video downloader or ripping service.
  • A tool for bypassing privacy, payments, region rules, or technical access controls.
  • A promise that automated transcripts are perfectly accurate.
  • A substitute for checking the original source before publishing a quotation.
